2013 St. Charles Scarecrow Fest

Looking for a little “scary” excitement?  Unique and interesting scarecrows, pumpkins, ghosts,  costumes, and candy can all be seen at  The annual St. Charles IL Scarecrow Fest. This award-winning festival has provided amazing memories to both adults and kids alike for over 26 years. This is an annual event that is sure to please everyone!

The St. Charles Scarecrow Festival beings Friday October 11th and runs until Sunday Oct 13th. The Festival hours on Friday and Saturday are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday’s hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.  The Arts and Crafts hours are Friday & Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.  The Carnival starts Thursday from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., Friday it is open from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m.  Saturday 11 a.m. to 10p.m.,& Sunday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.  and Admission is free activities include:

1. Scarecrow Contest– This is the foundation on which the festival is built .  There are over 15o beautiful, handcrafted scarecrows made by all types of people (Cub Scouts, Brownies, preschools, church groups, families, etc.). I believe that people come back every year to view the scarecrows that are constructed by kids, adults, businesses, community groups, and many others–Each with their own vision, style, creative touch, theme, and skill level.  It is truly amazing to see the variety, materials used, and creativity that goes into each creation…Well worth the trip!  You can also vote for the best scarecrows by number…  Fri & Sat 9-9, Sun 9-6. Lincoln Park and Verizon Zone

2. Arts and Crafts Show –If you are looking for something unique for your home or an upcoming Christmas gift, this may be your “cup of tea!”  All sorts of custom items are displayed, different mediums are employed, and you will sure to be delighted as you stroll leisurely down the rows of original offerings…Bring your measuring tape for the perfect picture or “work of art!” Fri & Sat 9-5, Sun 9-4. 3.  Fall Photo Booth-- Have your picture taken with family or friends in awesome fall backgrounds to make a fabulous memory for everyone!

4.  Pony Rides–  Pony rides that will be sure to delight all the children and provide a “photo op” for the parents!

5.  Carnival– A must have for any festival.  Enjoy foods, games, prizes, and rides such as the Ferris Wheel or the Tilt-A-Whirl.  There are a ton of rides for little kids too.  Grab your tickets, hop on, and hold on “for your life!”

6.  Great Tastes of St. Charles- -Experience and taste some of the delicious local restaurants as they serve up some of their special cuisine…Great way to sample all varieties, ethnic favors, and delicious treats of all types…

7.  Petting Zoo- Another great “photo opportunity” to catch the look of wonder as the children pet the animals and the animals “kiss” the kids.

8.  Make your own Scarecrow– Bring your own clothing (long sleeved shirts and pants) or use the ones provided.    Fri 11-4, Sat & Sun 10-4. First State Bank Zone (First Street) & Cadillac Zone (Municipal Lot – Saturday & Sunday Only)

9. Live Entertainment– Live music is being performed by bands day and night, magic show, theater performances, dancing, pumpkin carving, ice cream eating contest, dog training demos, and many more interesting events that are sure to please!

10. Cars & Bikes- Cadillac will have new models on display, so you can get a close up view and ask questions at your leisure…Harley-Davidson will have bikes on display and you may even get to “take it for a spin around the lot.”
