St. Charles Recreation

St. Charles and the surrounding area offer many recreational opportunities:

• Canoeing / Kayaking / Boating- Available above and below the St. Charles dam.  Boats can be launched at Boy Scout Island

• Biking- Two rail trails meet in St. Charles- the 17-mile Great Western Trail and the 33-mile Fox River Trail.  The 55-mile Illinois Prairie Path is also nearby

• City Parks- The St. Charles Park District oversees 1,400 acres of city parkland.  The city parks offer playgrounds, baseball, softball, tennis and soccer fields

• Dog Parks- St. Charles has 2 off-leash dog parks for you and your furry friend.  One dog park even includes a pond!

• Swimming- Swimming is available at the Swanson Pool (located in Pottawatomie Park) and on the city’s west side at the new Otter Cove Aquatic Center

• Norris Recreation Center- The Norris Center is open year round for indoor tennis, swimming, group fitness and weight room exercise

• Golf- St. Charles is surrounded by many private and public golf courses.  Public courses in the city include the historic Robert Trent Jones 9-hole layout at Pottawatomie Park and 2 18-hole courses located in the Pheasant Run Resort
